You know, different hand to hand, firearm skills and tactics they could have used to turn the tide. There are a few YouTubers in the self-defense space who do this.
But then I thought about it...
When we had that period where it was "Black" people being killed by the cops and they kept showing it on the news and social media over and over and over again, I wouldn't' watch it.
To this day I still haven't seen the George Floyd video. I won't watch it...
I had to think about why that is?
The reason I haven't watched the George Floyd video or any of the countless others is not because I don't have compassion.
I haven't and I won't watch because I have to protect my mental and emotional health so that I am ready and capable to do what I need to do should that moment come.
I teach a class called "Violent Encounters & Their Aftermath"
The class deals with the physiological changes that happen when we are in a violent encounter and how to deal with the police afterwards.
Watching those videos of real life violence and murder can replicate some of those physiological changes we experience in our own violent encounters.
That can and will tax your mental and emotional health.
Exposing yourself to that kind of violence on video also can instill fear and trauma.
I don't want to instill fear and trauma in my audience. I want to instill confidence and vigilance.
I don't want you to read or watch my content, attend my classes and leave fearful and traumatized. I want you to feel more prepared and ready to defend you and your loved ones life if that moment comes.
When in doubt...TRAIN!
